How appropriate for October and all things scary! But this isn’t scary in that sense at all. And this post won’t be like most from the ministry. Maybe it’s OK to give you all a break from some of the deep thoughts previous posts may have elicited!
This scary step is all mine. Well, mine and God’s which I guess should make it not scary! Maybe that’s why the scary steps with the Light at the top spoke to me!
With all that the pandemic has shut down, including many/most opportunities for me to speak about this ministry topic, I knew that I would have to look at other channels. And of course, that means going digital/virtual.
I wasn’t sure exactly what that looked like and asked God to give me some guidance. So, he sent me an email! It’s the REAL G-mail. 😊
In my in-basket a few weeks ago was an invitation to a webinar about writing your own digital course. Interesting timing, to say the least. I tuned in for the two-hour training and realized that this was the answer to prayer I had so recently prayed.
One thing I’ve learned in this ministry is that, because I know practically NOTHING about all the paths God leads me down, I need to rely on those who are experts in those fields. So, next day, with virtually no second thoughts, I signed up for the 12-week course entitled “Digital Course Academy.” This course will teach me how to write and launch my own course.
I’m about 2 weeks into it and have a long way to go. Some of the early decisions I’ve made so far will likely get tweaked along the way. But I believe the audience God wants me to reach is crystal clear.
I know this because I was going down 3-4 different paths and he gently but firmly changed my direction. He has made it clear that I am to speak into the lives of Christian widows. And doesn’t that make sense since that’s the ONLY place I can speak from with any kind of authority? God is so wise!
While the actual launch of the course is a few months out, I am humbly asking for help from my dedicated blog followers! Could you start thinking about who you know in your life that is a Christian widow? If someone pops into your head, consider forwarding this email or Facebook post to them.
They aren’t making any commitments at this stage. They may have just a touch of curiosity and want to know more.
“What about others who don’t fit that profile?” you ask. Certainly, anyone experiencing a loss would be welcomed into the course, and will hopefully find some nuggets to help them. But they might not find the kind of connection they’re seeking if their loss or circumstances are clearly different from mine. But no one will be turned away!
More details will be fleshed out over the next few weeks, so don’t worry about having all of that now. The pre-course webinar will lay it all out and explain what they will learn. THEN, with full knowledge, they can decide to pursue this journey with me, or not.
I can tell you that my hope and prayer is that I can help other widows find some purpose through this season of their life – and specifically GOD’S purpose for them.
I’d love to add them to this mailing if they’d like to stay informed about next steps.
And finally, I would so appreciate prayers for this journey. As the title indicates, it can be scary and overwhelming at times. I’ve already had to remind myself multiple times that this is God’s ministry and he will ultimately be my guide.
Thank you for your support and encouragement! And if you or your friends have any questions, feel free to email me or direct message me through Facebook. Thank you!
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
