Some (many? most?) of you are likely aware that I’ve recently published my second book – The Honest Griever – Truths God Reveals on the Journey from Pain to Purpose.
You may be on my launch team, you may have seen the promos on Facebook, or I may have been run you down if you got within a block or two or me! Regardless, this is probably not news to you.
HOWEVER, in the true spirit of book marketing, I want to make sure the rest of you are in on this news.
My official launch dates are August 16 – 30. During that time, the eBook will be available for a special price of only $.99. After that, the price will begin to increase. So, if you have a Kindle app or other eReader device, you’re all set!
The print version is also available for $14.99 for those of you preferring the feel of a real book in your hands. Either version can be found on Amazon. Just click here for eBook or here for the print version.
Just a bit of background that you won’t find in the book – I had been toying with the idea of writing a book consisting primarily of my blog posts from “It’s Beyond Me.” They chronicled my journey after Dale’s death and I thought they would nice-and-neatly become a book all by themselves with no additional writing or effort on my part.
It didn’t take long before I realized THAT wasn’t going to happen. Nothing fell into place as I’d hoped so on to Plan B. I’ll spare you all the details of that process, but the final result is what I’m promoting today.
Ironically, the pandemic became the perfect opportunity to stay secluded at home and, once again, rely on God to give me the words to write, as he has so faithfully done for years now.
This writing, however, was HARD! There were many tears as I wrote through the painful portions of my life both leading up to and after Dale’s death. And I did include MANY of the blog posts from my earlier site. But there were also so many reminders of God’s faithfulness to me throughout my life and especially in the last couple of years, and making THAT a part of this book was critically important to me.
As it says on my back cover, “Allowing yourself to fully grieve, while acknowledging God’s work through your pain, is a powerful combination. The result is a new creature who is refined by the fire of the affliction, not destroyed by it.”
That is the message of the book – the totality of fully grieving, and simultaneously seeing God’s hand upon your life – was, for me, the only way I could truly be “The Honest Griever.”
I would love to share that message with all of you with the hope and prayer that you would see how God truly walks me through this difficult season. And how he can do the same for each of you, regardless of any trials you’re currently experiencing, or any that may be down the road for you.
Because as we read in John 16:33 – “In this world you will have trouble, but take heart: I have overcome the world.” What a wonderful promise that is – at least the second half!
Once again, here are the links to the books. And if you feel led to leave a review on Amazon, I would be doubly grateful!
I’ll leave you with a portion of a review I received from a fellow author who is a Christian counselor in Ohio.
“’The Honest Griever’ is a phenomenal book!!!!! As a therapist, I was looking for a book on grief that I could refer to my clients and friends. Let’s just say this….I don’t have to look any further… This book is a tearjerker for sure but well worth the read. May the author continue to find comfort in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. BRAVO!!!!” ~ Dr. Tina M. Bedell
Thank you, Tina!
I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,
Ephesians 1:16
