I’ve written a New Year’s Resolution-type blog pretty much every year since I started writing weekly blogs. I just reviewed several of them, and they’re not bad. I could reuse one as I did a few years ago (just re-titled it 2.0), but generally I’m not a fan of recycling posts.
In my younger years, I was pretty faithful in writing down some great resolutions – not quite as faithful in keeping them! As I get more years in that ol’ rear-view mirror, my desire for change becomes more and more spiritual, and less and less physical. Perhaps I’ve just given up on the latter!
Regardless, I wanted to challenge you, my readers, to consider those same kinds of resolutions. Just what does a New Year’s Resolution list look like for someone who believes in Jesus? That’s the direction I was leaning for this week’s post.
So, what showed up right after Christmas but this post from Eternal Perspective Ministries (see below) where they shared an earlier article written by Don Whitney entitled, “Ten Questions for a New Year.”
After reading it, I decided I really couldn’t improve upon these great suggestions. It’s exactly what I was hoping to cobble together for you all!
This is not my attempt to shirk my blog-writing responsibilities, but a humble admission that you’ll get much more out of reading the attached article. In fact, I just made my own resolution list based on this article. Pray, and then don’t be surprised at how God fills in some answers, as he did with me.
May God speak to your heart as you ponder these powerful questions heading into 2025.
A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.
